Hogtown Smoke, A True BBQ Joint

Now your talking, a few of my favourite foods are found at the HOGTOWN SMOKER.  You like smoked ribs, wings, beef briskets and pulled pork, to name a few?  Plus, the steak selection sounds like I should return soon to try some of them. The menu selection has enough to keep you coming back for years now. It’s up to you to try it!

Today’s selection for the appetizer was the Mac and Cheese balls, filled with Quebec cheese cured, adding a drizzle of sriracha ketchup for a kicker. All of it gave us a melt in your mouth experience filled with flavours adding a little kick with the drizzled sauce.  It was the perfect size for a shareable dish.

Now now, listen to this one, a first for me: Smoked bacon wrapped onion rings, if you love bacon as I do, then these are a great starter to share at your table.  The taste of the smoke is inside every bite of this shareable plate, Yummy it is.  Moving to the best part of this culinary experience is the meat that comes out of their smoker.  We chose a platter of different items to share at our table, smoked chicken wings, smoked ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork, adding lots of different sides that I mention below.

Everything from the smoker was worth the wait but do you dare to try their homemade sauces with your selection of meats as it goes from the lighter end of spice with Hogmother, a sweet Black and Blue (blackberry and blueberry) to I Killed Jeffery (oh I didn’t try this one).

Our sides well, we went overboard because there were lots we wanted to try out, for example, homemade potato chips with seasoning, duck fat cooked fries, coleslaw, incredible baked beans and one of the best cornbread this side of Louisiana.  The cornbread with the maple bourbon butter impressed me so much that I wanted to bring some home with me that night. I was able to savour the cornbread with my root beer baked beans, as both gave me awesome flavours to blend in with all of the smoky meats we ate.

What to expect while joining Hog smokehouse for a meal?  They serve a selection of top local breweries product that allows them to have a great beer selection on tap for your enjoyment! Friendly staff that is ready to help your experience climb to the next level, and if you’re not sure what to order, then ask questions to your server, he’ll help you in making an informed decision.

The restaurant has lots of seating available for you on both levels making it easy to accommodate large parties. The weekends, the live entertainment fills the lower level, it doesn’t interfere with the upstairs guests, the chefs dance around as he enjoys the show. Fully open windows that let you get fresh air but are still inside the restaurant.  The restaurant, decorated in an authentic Cajun-style look with great music and a superb atmosphere.

The Hogtown Smoke restaurant, located at 55 Colborne Street, downtown Toronto. A well-lit street corner, there is paid and street parking for your convenience. Great space to enjoy with friends and family. Our service was impeccable while he was attentive to our needs. The window and patio seating areas are available for you.
